Latest Atos Origin Placement Paper Pattern - Atos Origin Self Experience at Father Agnels , Vashi , Navi Mumbai

By Mahesh (father Agnels Enggr College,Navi Mumbai, B.E. student )

The ATOS ORIGIN aptitude test was bit difficult, but if u r done with R.S.Aggrawal then u don’t have to worry at all. Bcoz all the question are from time & work, time & distance, profit & loss, probabilities section. Only 28 student’s r selected from the aptitude round and I was the 28th.

The next round was of interview. The ATOS ORIGIN -technical cum HR interview was taken by the two people together. The interview was damn cool.
Dont make mistakes, which i made in the HR , PI..

It goes as follows:

Int: Hi, tell me something about urself.
I: told

Int: Tell me something about mini projects that u have mentioned in ur resume.
[* This is most certain question so study Ur resume properly and only mention those things that u really know well enough. They will ask u that in depth. Don't just write stupid hobbies like reading, dancing unless u r really dedicated to those. *]
I: explained

Int: Tell me the difference between ASP and AWT
I: Told

Int: How can u get the label of the button pressed in java?
I: Tried to explain [ans: using ae.getActioncommand () function].

Int: Tell me your strengths and weakness
I: Told
[* The most obvious weakness is: I hardly say no to anyone Strengths: punctuality, positive approach, I never give up.*]
Int: Tell me any recent example of ur last strength.
I: Told him about how I reach college just two days ago through heavy traffic by taking lift from several guys.

Int: Tell something about our organization (ATOS ORIGIN).
I: Told the annual turnover, branches, their clients etc.
Then he told me to add two zero’s to the turnover told by me.
Int: Then ask something similar qn but I didn’t understood.
I: I don’t know sir.

Int: Why? U was not listening to our ppt in the morning. (you can get rejected for this Reason, pls make sure to gather some inforamtion about company )
I: Yes sir, I was there, but the AC was so high so I couldn’t concentrate.

Int: So what u r going to do in our organization. We have centralized AC in all our offices.
I: Sir, I will ask my father to get an AC right now at our home.

All three of us start laughing. At that point I felt I got a good chance of getting selected. Then he asks me if I want to know anything about their organization. If they ask u this question, believe me u r 95% selected. I asked couple of qns. Then he just said best of luck.

14 students got selected from our college and my name was there. I got selected in ATOS ORIGIN.

Let me tell u something very-very important from my experience. I had appeared for TCS, WIPRO, MASTEK, but didn’t crack. But don’t lose hope is the moral of the story, Believe in urself and u will get what u want. Be confident. That’s all.

All the Best for ATOS ORIGIN.

MOST Important Interview Questions

I have given almost 10-12 interview in companies like Patni, Accenture,IRIS Business, Hexaware,Quinnox, V2 Solutions,Vexys infotech etc.

So i have good idea what HR asks and what kind of answers they are expecting from you.

Many interview questions are to be expected. Study this list and plan your answers ahead of time so you'll be ready to deliver them with confidence.

1.Tell me about Yourself .
Most common Question asked in every interview. Prepare (just mug it up ..around 8-9 lines about yourself). In this section give small introduction about yourself. Including Marks, Hobbies, Family background. Try to add some innovative points to make strong impressions.

Eg.

I am Sangram Nandkhile.I am currently perusing my B.E. in computers from TERNA ENGINEERING COLLGE.
My aggregate stands up to 65.63% after 7 sems.

My mother works as the principle and my dad is a Government employee.I stay at thane.(tell me about ypur siblings if you have..)

Apart from academics i enjoy taking parts in Drawing,Dancing,Football,Singing etc.

and blah blah...

Shakuntala devi puzzles ,Puzzles for interview, Downlaod shakuntala devi puzzle e book

Shakuntala devi puzzles are very Popular and asked frequently.
You can search for E BOOK of Shakuntala devi puzzles on Google.

So HERE WE Go !!!

1. You are given two candles of equal size, which can burn 1 hour each. You have
to measure 90 minutes with these candles. (There is no scale or clock). Also u r
given a lighter.
Ans: 1. First light up the two ends of the 1st candle. When it will burn out light up
one end of the second candle. (30+60=90)

2. Try the similar problem to measure 45 minutes.
Ans: First light-up the two ends of the 1st candle and one end of the 2nd candle.
When the 1st candle will burn out ,then light up the both ends of the 2nd candle
(15+30=45)

3. You r given a thermometer. What can u do by this without measuring the
temperature?
Ans: if u put thermometer into a tree it won’t grow anymore, will just die off

4. How it is possible to place four points that are equidistance from each other?
OR
U r a landscape designer and your boss asked u to design a landscape such
that you should place 4 trees equidistance from each other.
(Distance from each tree to the other must be same)
Ans: Only 3 points can be equidistant from each other. But if u place points in the
shape of a pyramid then its possible

5. You are given a cake; one of its corner is broken. How will u cut the rest into
Two equal parts?
Ans: Slice the cake

6. How will you recognize the magnet & magnetic material & non-magnetic material?
Ans: Drag one piece of material over another. There is no attractive force in the
middle portion of the magnet.
OR
Get a piece of thread and tie up with the one bar and check for poles. If it iron bar
then it moves freely and if it is magnetic bar then it fix in one direction according to
poles.

7. If one tyre of a car suddenly gets stolen.... and after sometime u find the tyre
without the screws how will u make ur journey complete?
Ans: Open 3 screws, 1 from each tyre and fix the tyre.

8. How can u measure a room height using a thermometer?
Ans: temp varies with height. but its dependent on various other factors like
humidity, wind etc.

9. What is the height of room if after entering the room with a watch ur head
strikes a hanging bulb?
Ans: Oscillate the hanging bulb. Calculate the time period for one complete
oscillation by Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) of the handing bulb. Put it in the
formula T=2 * 3.14 * (L/G)^1/2
L will be the length of the hanging thread.
Add the L with ur height to get the height of the room.
OR
Ans: Drop it from the room and find the time at which it strikes the floor. Using
physics formula s = (at^2)/2 (IM NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE)

10. Color of bear.... if it falls from 1m height in 1s.
Ans: We get 'g' perfect 10 which is only in poles...hence polar bear...color White

11. How will you measure height of building when you are at the top of the building?
And if you have stone with you.
Ans: Drop the stone and find the time taken for the stone to reach the ground. find
height using the formula
s = a + gt ( s = height, a= initial velocity=0, g=9.8m/s, t = time taken)

12. How wud u catch and receive a ball in same direction? (Dropping is from north
And receiving from bottom not accepted, as it is 2 directions)
Ans: ?

13. 25 statements given. Some tell truth, some false and some alternators. Find out
the true statements.
Ans: ?

14. Can u make 120 with 5 zeros?
Ans: Factorial (factorial (0)+factorial (0)+factorial (0)+factorial (0)+factorial (0)) =
120

15.There are three people A, B, C. Liars are of same type and Truth speaking people
are of same type. Find out who is speaking truth and who is speaking false from the
following statements:
a) A says: B is a liar.
b) B says: A and C are of same type.
Ans: lets assume A is speaking truth. It means B is a liar then it means A and C are
not of same type.

16.5 swimmers A, B, C, E, F and many conditions of their positions like there are
Two b/w A & F, B doesn't win etc the question was to find who was b/w like E & D?
Ans: ?

17. in a race u drove 1st lap with 40kmph and in the second lap at what speed u
must drive so that ur average speed must be 80kmph.
Ans: its impossible! if u drove the first lap in 40 kmph, its impossible that the
average speed of both the laps is 80kmph.
for eg. consider one lap distance = 80km.
time req. to cover 1 lap = 80km/40kmph = 2 hrs.
if the avg. speed is 80kmph, then the total time would have taken =
160kms/80kmph = 2 hrs.
same is the case with any other distance u consider. so the avg to be 80kmph is
impossible

18. You have to draw 3 concentric circles with a line passing thru their center
without lifting hand.
Ans: Start the line complete one circle move inside circles along the line and then
draw second circle. Like wise rest.

19. A rectangular paper is there. At a corner a rectangular size paper is taken from
it. Now you have to cut the remaining paper into two equal halves.
Ans: try it on the paper. You must fold the part that has complete paper and select
Half of it and then fold the part that cut and selects half of it and then cut along
the folding. (I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS ONE!!)

20. Value of (x-a)(x-b)………..(x-z)
Ans: 0 as there’s X-X term

21. There are 9 coins. 8 are of 1 gm and 1 is of 2 grams. How will you find out the
heavier coin in minimum number of weighing and how many weighing it will need?
Ans: 2 weighing ( Divide the number of coins into 3 parts at each weighing)

L & T Aptitude Test Paper :Apti,GD,HR etc

L & T INFOTECH PAPER ON 3rd MARCH 2008

By Abdullah Khan, Who has done IT engg from Pillai’s Institute of Information Tech (PIIT - New panvel).

Some very Quick Stats:-

Colleges Invited : 2
Approx Students : 350-400
Shortlisted : 71After G.D : 36
Finally selected : 20

Procedure in My words:

We reached there @ 8.00 in the morning.. although we were told to come till 9.30 I suggest going a little bit early would only help u calming down some nerves. Try to have a look at the college and get acquainted to it.. so that you don't feel a loner there.. Trust me this helps....I did the same.
It was believed that at present there would be a ppt presentation and then after the 1/2 hour routine there would be an aptitude test but that wasn’t the case.. due to some reason the l&T people were a bit late (that’s ok) so they decided to take the aptitude test first. After giving the test they told us to move to the seminar hall where in they would give presentation about the company and by the time the presentation would be over they would tell us our results.

Placement Pattern

1) Aptitude Test2) Group Discussion3) HR/Tech. Int.
1) Aptitude Test(Sectional Cutoffs this time and they strictly followed it this time around unlike last year) Guys don't hit me on this, since i ve' forgotten many questions but will try my best to give you some.
This time around the aptitude test was difficult. Not many questions were repeated but it was still manageable
1) Quanti Section (Tough) (30 quest. 30 marks - R.S Agarwal is ur bible)
-> Few question from time and work
-> Few questions from matrices/determinants
-> Few question from speed and distance (tough ones)
-> Few (in fact 5) from permutations/combination (again some tough ones here)-> Few trigonometry questions
-> Few ratio proportion and percentages
-> Few Age based questions
-> Few from allegations and mixture
-> Few from series
-> Few from probability

thats all i remember. Guys a friendly suggestion try to cover only these chapter thoroughly from R.S agarwal and you should clear most of the quanti section.

2) Data Interpretation/Nonverbal/Logical Reasoning (Manageable) (30 quest. 30 marks - R.S Agarwal is your bible)
Again i do not remember much questions here but still lets see...
-> Few (in fact 7) from Non-Verbal part i.e based on 4 images u decide the next one in sequence... (few were tough)-> Few table based interpretation questions.
-> Few puzzles based (Refer R.S Agarwal verbal/nonverbal/logical reasoning book for these chapters)
-> Few Pie charts based question
-> Few logical vein diag question (any apti has this question)-> Coding - Decoding-> Data Sufficiency
Rest I don't remember much.. but as i said it was manageable section...

3) Verbal/English/Comprehension ability (Very Tough to me atleast) (30 quest. 30 marks - R.S Agarwal is ur bible)
-> A paragrapgh was given and we were asked 5 questions from it and again there were 4 options
1) If the question is relevant and could be answered from passage
2) If the question can be answered as a deduction from any of the other situation(S) from the passage
3) If the question can be or cannot be the result of any situation(s) from the passage given 4) If the question asked is irrelevant and cannot be answered.
So what do you get from these type of question :-) ? Its a complete waste of time to attempt these questions at start. Attempt it lat. I found these types somewhat similar to cat pattern. ne ways leave it..
-> Few analogy based question (the ones that i remember are) Defunct:life :: ? (Refer R.S Agarwal its given there) and from that same R.S aggarwal there were 3 questions more...-> Two Comprehensions (1 Tough ad 1 Easy)-> Few questions on odd man out type.. infact i remember one question Axe,Arrow,Knife, hammer (Ans- Arrow (easy one))
Rest again i don't remember.

Group Discussion : GD

was confident that i would get through GD. Since many have said.. that i am not a bad speaker In fact few friends whom i didn’t know from Terna congratualted me after the discussion was over. I kind of gained confidence from there onwards for Tech and HR drive**
My group included 14 members including me.. we went inside the room and found two persons (sir) there. Just to add a sentence here, before my group who so ever went inside.. these two guys were selecting only 3-4 candidates from a grp of 15. I was tensed but not shattered. We went inside.
One of the person asked our names out and we promptly replied back "yes sir". After that he asked us for a topic.. Few Smart girls from my group started enchanting their already prepared topics.. one of them crossed the limit and started saying.. Sir lets start on any abstract topic.."Half full - half Empty". Although i was prepared for it but i found this very errant and stupid. It was that she thought no body would be able to talk on this, she might get through teh gd and rightly so not many of my grp members were prepared for it. I crossed her and replied "sir why don’t we start on topics like. Sin(theta), cos(theta) or Zero" and then I looked at her and she was like cursing me.. but that made her quiet.
And then another gentleman from my group started "Sir Budget". Everyone said No!I took the moment as an opportunity and said.. Sir its better that u decide the topic since there are 14 different views circulating here. luckily he selected a simple topic "Nano"
the discussion went on i was to speak for the topic. Mines was an awesome GD. I spoke 3rd. but relevant to the crux. and then the funniest part as i am a big fan of using proverbs i quickly found out a proverb for the situation and exaggerated there. A guy from my group started saying to his friend "Shit now we have no chance". I felt good at first place since i believed that at least i had a chance to be selected if only 3-4 persons are selected from the group but the very next moment i felt bad too.. since the guy was way much better in academics than me. so i stopped with mines.
As obvious when sir announced the name of selected candidates i was the first candidate to be selected. Surprisingly including me there were 7 persons selected. Very uncharacteristic of those gentlemen’s. We came out happily from the GD room with a personal information form in our hands. This form meant that we were qualified for the next level.

Some tips:
** Speak Relevant points.
** Don’t panic. Neither repeat points
** Don’t be dominating ( i had a friend being rejected due to this)
** Listen to others
** Sit staright (sound motherly :-))** Most importantly while speaking address to all your mates in the group.
** Avoid using fillers and bad grammar.
** Be an active listener and a passive speaker.

3) HR/Tech Interview

I was the 11th candidate to be interviewed, ironic to the fact that i hate 11 but that is how it was supposed to happen. I went inside the room at 9.15 pm i guess. Here i would like to emphasize that i was lucky that i want asked any technical questions mainly HR. Those who went for technical interview were asked questions on c/c++/Data Structure.. What is polymorphism, inheritance, benefits of oop etc.. Write a program on bubble, quick, heap, merge sort etc.. What is linked list etc. etc. etc.

CONVERSATION:

Me: can i come in mam'?
She: Oh! sure please come in
Me: Good Evening! Mam
She: Good Evening! please have a seat.
Me : Thank you mam.
She: How was your day Abdullah?
Me : Fine until now, waiting for the last checkpoint to cross successfully
She: Great! She: Tell me about yourself
Me: told
She: In your form i can see you have written that you have helped someone grow. Explain it please.
Me: Explained about a client whom i helped in developing his website and how his personal business brought him success.
She: Abdul tell me, At 20 you are almost doing a consulting type of job. Why do you need to join l&t or for that matter any company? lets start a consulting form together it sounds interesting?Me: I grabbled here! I somehow generated some courage from within and said mam these kind of work that i do, they are more of fun to me and i haven’t looked at it seriously and i am also not sure how long can it go. As a reason i plan to join some firm and test my skills. Somewhere down the line after 10-15 years if i feel the need for it i would definitely not mind working with you as a consultant:-)
She: What happened in your earlier seems u have an average of 50% in ur 1st 3 sems and then the mark sheets doesn’t really looks like yours. (last 2 sems average 76%)
Me: Was prepared for this. Explained it to her.
She: Willing to relocate.
Me: Not an issue.
She: Any questions for me.
Me: asked
She: ok thank you Abdullah.
Me: Was Pleasure talking to you mam. (shook hands and went off)

------------RESULTS-------------
Results were announced and i was selected (Again ironically my number was called out at 11th position) Gees! how irritating. Anyways the package offered by L&T is a bit on lower side for a fresher 2.2pa as of now but they said it would be revised. As i wrote this quite fast so this article is bound to have some discrepancies, spelling mistakes or at some places it may feel lacking completeness and relevance. I apologies for that.
Last but not the least i will want to thank the helping staff at Terna college for conducting such a beautifully managed event. Never for a moment I felt that I was in some other college. Thank you all.
